Kakizome (First Writing)

Kakizome is the custom of creating inspirational calligraphy on January 2. In the Edo Period, Kakizome was practiced only by the Imperial Court. It later spread to local commoners and eventually became a New Year's tradition all across Japan.
If you're in Kyoto at the turn of the New Year, why not try your hand at Kakizome?
