Free Kyoto City guides are available at any Starbucks or 7-11 (Japan's largest convenience store chain).
Kyoto City has one hundred and eighteen 7-11 stores and fourteen Starbucks (as of September 20th, 2007). Both shops are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All shops offer sightseeing and transportation guides for the area as well as free tourist maps in English.
