Kyoto Takigi-Noh


Takigi-Noh features the
traditional Japanese performing arts of
noh and kyogen performed from dusk to nightfall on an outdoor stage illuminated by bonfires. "Kyoto Takigi-Noh" began in 1950 as a precursor of this event. It is held in precincts of
Heian Jingu Shrine, a typical sightseeing destination in Kyoto, in June every year. The performances are a seasonal feature of early summer in Kyoto and are very popular with many overseas visitors as well. It can be said that Takigi-Noh is a must-see event if you visit Kyoto in this season.
A special Noh stage set up specifically for the "Kyoto Takigi-Noh" within the precincts of creates a fantastic atmosphere when the bonfires shimmer in the twilight.
