Maiko Event
Special Event to Enjoy the Apprentice Maiko Dancing and Take Commemorative Photographs
An apprentice geisha or Maiko is girl who is 15-20 years old and strives to become an accomplished geisha. In the event, you can get a close look at Kyomai (or Japanese dancing) by naive apprentice geisha girls wearing bewitching kimono and can try kimono on. (In some situations depending on the total number of participants, you won't be able to do the trial fitting). After the show, you can take photographs with the Maiko.
In addition, there are several must-see performances of Japanese culture and entertainment unique to Kyoto, such as flower arrangement, tea ceremony, traditional music and Kyogen plays. If you have a copy of this page, you'll receive a discount to see them. We recommended taking it along.
